Sopan Baug, the colony people drive past
Sopan Baug is a housing colony near Ghorpadi, on the Wanowrie side of the city, and plenty of people who live in Pune have never been inside it. It sits off the main roads, behind its own turnings, with bungalows and low buildings along wide inner lanes shaded by old trees. There is very little traffic and almost no shopping inside. After dark it is one of the quietest addresses on the eastern side. Sopan Baug escorts on our board keep to that hush: one ring at the gate, then straight indoors.
That quiet is why people pick it. Homes here are mostly family bungalows and roomy flats, some on long rent to people posted in the city. Koregaon Park, Magarpatta and Hadapsar are all near enough for dinner out, and the colony is calm to come back to. A booking from Sopan Baug is nearly always to a home, made a little ahead, with the lane and house name ready.
Lucy lives here; the tall girl, as her card puts it. When she is busy, Nishaa or Muskan come from Magarpatta, and Shilpa from Koregaon Park. Each keeps the rate printed on her card, and the ride is free.
